Watching some of the Chris Keller episodes today, some discussion questions came to mind.  I'm not sure what my opinion is on these (probably because I didn't care for a lot of this storyline or much of this season) but I wanted to hear what you all thought.

1. Do you think Haley actually liked Chris?  Or was at least attracted to him?

2. Or do you think Haley was really drawn by the prospect of a music career?

3. Or do you think Haley was intrigued by Chris--not because he was Chris, but because he was a guy that wasn't Nathan and she felt she was missing out on the normal high school single girl life?

4. Or did you see it as a combo of the above?

5. Do you know of anyone that was rooting for Haley and Chris?  I know people that loved him as a character but never wanted Naley to break up.

Again, just wondering what you guys think!  Not sure right now how I would answer.

I think it was some combo of 1 and 2, I think she was attracted to him because he represented a part of herself that she was starting to tap into. She was discovering the musician in her and he was allowing that part of her to shine.   I don't think it was so much Chris himself or the prospect of music career itself it was deeper then that. Does that make sense?

DC, here arre my thoughts on Haley and Chris. I agree with Arpagian that Haley was only interested in Chris because he brought out the musical side of her, and I never saw Haley's love for Nathan waver in any way. Also, I don't know if anyone was rooting for a Haley and Chris pairing, but I know that I sure as heck was NOT rooting for them to get together because I absolutely DETESTED the Chris Keller character. I found Chris to be an annoying, obnoxious jerk of a character and I never understood why the writers brought him on to begin with. Another part of my HATRED from Chris came from the fact that I saw him a very POOR replacement character for Felix Tagarro, who I felt was a far better character than Chris ever was. After Haley's music thing with Chris ended, I was so glad to see Chris written out of the show because once again, I hated him.

I suppose that means you hated his brief return in season 4, too?  LOL  I see what you're saying, though.  I think I agree with Arpagian in what she about Haley and Chris, while, like you, I didn't like the character all too much.  Sure, he made me laugh sometimes but that doesn't make someone a good character.  I would say Haley's love did waver a bit, though, or she at least had some doubts about her life and that most certainly includes Nathan.  I do think it's clear, though, why the writers brought him on to begin with, and I never thought to compare him to Felix.  But I guess that's because Felix never had much of an impact on me either.  Anyway, thanks for answering!

Right on Soapman and well said!!!  As I agree completely, Haley was never interested in Chris for any other reason than what he represented to her music career.  Chris was brought on for the sole purpose to stir things up in Naley's world, hence when they had Nathan give Haley an ultimatum in S2 and say to her that if she left him, they were done, because they were driving home the fact that it had to be either/or for them.  But it was drilled into our heads over and over again that Haley's decision to pursue her music career and tour, had absolutely nothing to do with any personal feelings that she had for Chris.  It was never about that, hence why Haley ends up coming home for Nathan, because she couldn't stand to be away from him for any longer, and her music didn't mean anything without him there!!!  

It's also why in S3, Nathan corrects his mistake when he tells Haley that he was sorry and that it didn't have to be either or, it's not the 1950's.  It's also why in S5, their marriage counselor point blank asks them if they could do it all over again, would they do things differently this time around? And they both fanatically state---yes.  It's also why it was hinted at last season in 617 when Nathan tells Haley that her going on tour again and taking Jamie with her would be every kids dream, because they were setting things up for this season, and why Naley's next big story arc coming up, will be about Haley and her music!!!  Hint, Hint, hehe---so there's a spoiler for you, lol, as we will once again get to see Haley have a musical storyline, and this time around, NJ are there to fully support her---the way it should be!!! 

BTW----totally know that you couldn't stand Chris Keller's character, so you always make me chuckle with your statements about how much you can't stand him, lol!!!  

I don't think that Haley's love for  Nathan ever wavered one bit, just like during Naley's whole separation, Nathan's love for her never wavered.  Just because when Haley was on tour in S2, and more specifically during episode 217 when Nathan goes to see Haley and she tells him that maybe they rushed into things and that she wasn't prepared for all of this, ie the tour and him, she still point blank tells him that she loves him and asks him to wait for her and that they would talk after her set, but Nathan still left.  Anyways, a 16 year old Haley questioning how she was going to be able to handle a tour and deal with her marriage doesn't mean that she was wavering in her love for Nathan at all.  And it was actually the opposite in fact, as it was her love for Nathan that brought her home to him. 

If they wanted to show Haley's love in doubt or question her feelings for Nathan, than there would have been plenty of things that they could have done and shown when Haley was on tour, and they didn't allude to or hint at anything.  We didn't even get one single scene of her and Chris just hanging out together on tour, with the exception of Lucas and Brooke walking in on Chris tickling Haley, other than that, zip nada----which should be the glaring answer, lol.  

I am glad that Haley's music career is coming back to the forefront. Joy is so dam talented I want to hear her singing again. Does she ever play shows like Kate? I would love to hear her live.

The last I heard of BJG performing was this summer at the opening of Battleground, the restaurant she owns with her husband and family.

Oh it is and you're going to love it----trust me, hehe!!!  I talked with Mark about this at the end of last season and he was just as excited, hehe.  This is another reason why I said that this season will continue to be a season where the show corrects a whole bunch of things, and Haley being front and center this year, and finally being shown as being able to pursue her stuff as well, is just another example of why I said that S7 would be great!!!

Yeah, no kidding----Joy is so d@mn talented, it's amazing!!!!  She is truly in a class all of her own, and yes---we get to hear plenty from Haley, no worries there, hehe!!!

No---Joy doesn't like to headline and tour like that.  The last time she did a tour like that in real life was back during S2 when the show put her on the OTH tour and she toured for all those months with Tyler and The Wreckers, and that one about killed her, lol.   She does do certain things and sets from time to time and she and Amber did do some stuff with Everly this summer in Nashville, and in Battleground, but not on a regular basis---no.  So you won't see her playing shows like Kate does, as Kate pursues her musical career first and foremost, and for Joy, she almost prefers to have her music as almost a hobby that she does on the side, in the midst of acting, directing, producing, etc... the list goes on an on, lol!!!  Which is why we all know how talented and amazing she is!!!  

If you can go to Wilmington next week, then you can see her live as they are taping an awesome series of things for Haley and so Joy will obviously be performing tons of stuff, hehe!!!
