Wow!

This episode was so good that it made up for all the crap we all had to suffer through the last couple of seasons!

James' directing was spot on as well.....

Back to Dan.....who didn't believe that Dan would do everything in his power to expose the skank and save his son Nathan and his family?

He set her up perfectly....all the way to the very end, then when his trap for her was set, he ambushed her and made her admit her lies!

Yes indeed, Dan IS Santa Claus! L.O.L.

I now am looking forward to seeing Nathan reconciling with Dan. I realize that it will still take alot from all parties before it happens and I'm sure that Haley will be a factor in helping Nathan come to terms with it all......I also hope we see Nathan finally thanking Dan for everything he has done to protect Naley and the start of the recovery of Dan's character on the show.

I also would like to hear from those who blamed Dan for Nathan's troubles and would enjoy hearing what they have to say now. Hehe.

Hey Joey,  although I did not suffer through crap the last two seasons, I do agree with you that last night's episode was awesome and that James' directing was fabulous!

Yes, I knew that Dan's reasons for having the skank on his show were to help Nathan, and I never thought that he or Rachel had anything to do with what she was doing to Nathan.  I did think someone was behind the set up, but I guess no one was and it was just a case of the skank trying to go after Nathan's money.

I agree that no matter what, Dan will always be there for Nathan and his family and he has proven that many times throughout the years.

However, no matter what Dan has done for Nathan in the past, present, or even will do in the future, I just can't see Nathan forgiving him for killing Keith.  Maybe they will come to some kind of mutual understanding where they can at least be civil, IDK.

You and I have discussed this before and I know that we both agree that having Dan kill Keith was not Mark's finest moment.  He could have had Keith die another way without distroying the father/son premise of the show, which I always enjoyed. Actually I enjoyed it with both sons, and I always believed that Dan loved Lucas very much, as well as Nathan.

I actually like Dan's character and think Mark really blew it with having him kill Keith and thereby ruining the father/son relationships that I feel were important to the show.

IMO, no matter what Dan has done, or will do, he is a father first and foremost, and will always have his son's best interests at heart.

Vicki :)

I thought last night was one of the best episodes I have seen on this show.  I posted my breakdown on the 707 thread, I agree with your sentiments about the directing. Also Mark wrote a hell of a script.

Never thought it was Dan, as I said he would never do it to Nate or Jaime. Loved Dan last night.  I thought it was Rachel and while that appears not to have been the case I still think she is up to something. I think that for no other reason then a drama needs a villain and now that down has become the good guy, Rachel is the only person left to fill that role.  Please everyone disagree but thats my story and I am sticking to it-lol.

Word, hehe!!!  Yep so true, this season is actually righting the ship for so many past mistakes and wrong doings---it's unbelievable, hehe!!!  Now you know why I was so excited towards the end of last season Joey, told you that the changes were coming for the better, that you just had to be patient and believe, lol!!!  See what the first 7 new episodes of this season can do for you?  It's night and day, I know, lol!!!

Yep---James did a phenomenal job, hands down!!!  He is so in tune with the characters that he knows just what to do to get the best performances from his fellow actors and string together an amazing episode!!!  And OMG---him and Joy together, yeah they're just awesome, they continue to amaze.  So much unscripted magic, this season is already golden for them.  Can we please just get either James or Joy to direct like every episode? hehe

Yeah, Dan was superb last night, he rocked it!!!  He's perfect for a talk show like this, hehe!!!   And like you said, I can't imagine anyone not realizing that Dan would be the one to save the day?  Was there really any other choice? lol, I don't think so!!!  You don't mess with his family and expect to get away with it, and I loved seeing him set his trap for her to expose her lies and finally get her to admit the truth!!!  And the great direction by James only elevated all of this even more.  The whole Scott family was amazing last night!!!

Dan is like Santa Claus, he saved the day yet again, lol!!!  And yes, I too can't wait to see Dan return to Tree Hill and try to begin the healing process with his family!!!  You're definitely right Joey, him and Nathan sure do have a long ways to go, believe me----as their relationship is so fractured at this point, but they do have some great scenes, some pretty powerful stuff coming up in several episodes, starting in a few weeks, so I know that you'll be looking forward to seeing that as well!!!

I'm glad that you liked the episode so much, as I think any rational fan would be able to admit that this was one of the best episodes in a long long time for this show, and the episode alone has to rank up there as one of the very best that Mark has written.  He definitely came through with this, no question about it.

And I too am hoping that all the Dan haters out there will finally be able to realize that Dan very much has a story and a point---heck, them giving him his own talk show to begin with was just to get to last night and expose the lying skank!!!  But anyways, at least maybe now all the doubters will be able to admit that Dan is still very much relevant and he always will be as long as there is Nathan and NHJ.  The Scott dynamic is what everything with this show is built around and it's what the main stories filter through.  So yeah, Dan is the man---for sure, hehe!!!  Glad you got your episode Joey, and I was all smiles right along with you!!!  smile

Not only do I get why you have been excited about this season since I started posting but I can not help but laughing thinking about you reading peoples theories, mostly mine, and just knowing we were way over thinking this plot, mostly me-lol.

Yeah, some of the theories were definitely "out there" lol, but not on here, so don't feel silly!!!  I can understand why people were speculating that Rachel might somehow be involved in some way, but it was funny reading that a lot seemed to think that there was a set-up of some kind involved beyond just Renee wanting money.  So yeah, it was funny reading people trying to make this out to be some sort of conspiracy and so much bigger than it actually was, lol!!!

The fact that some seemed to think that Nathan actually cheated left me scratching my head, as well as those that thought that Dan was behind this and out to get his son, also the speculation that Clay was the father had me rolling as well, lol.  Not that, that was such a crazy theory, it's just that I knew the story, so it always made me laugh to read that people were so convinced that Clay was the daddy.  So yeah, all of that did make me chuckle quite a bit over the past several weeks, for sure, hehe.

But I was really happy that the show didn't go in a soapy direction with this beyond the stuff with Dan's talk show of course, lol---but I'm glad that they didn't try to paint a different agenda other than Renee wanting to extort Nathan for money, because the truth of the matter is that 9 times out of 10, the reason that professional athletes get targeted and extorted by women all the time, is for the sole purpose of wanting money and money alone and wanting a certain lifestyle they envy, so for the sake of a semblance of realism, I'm glad that this story arc played out like it did, and that Nathan just happened to be a convenient target for Renee that night, and nothing more.  Not some grand scheme of somebody wanting to destroy his life because of some other hidden agenda!!! smile

I was totally that person- I so over analyzed this that when the simple clues were presenting themselves I just pushed them aside and looked for way bigger things. I was thinking more soapy and that is not OTH.  OTH is drama but it is not over the top.

Never thought it was Dan and Clay never occurred to me.  I was fixated on Rachel because I know she is not back permanently and I thought this was what she was there for. Good to know I can still create an over the top conspiracy. Coming from Berkeley Ca, that kind of thinking runs a muck and its what we do for fun-LOL .  Just kidding, it's years of to many soap operas.

I loved the way this played out and once again I commend you for keeping quiet and not giving it away. This just goes to show sometimes the simplest explanations are the right ones.smile

I agree as I believe most of us on the board do as well.  It was so well done that it will be hard to top.

Wow! While I am certain that many fans out there might agree, I do not. I understand that sort of thinking...really I do....I just hope that there is another way and that with Haley's help, Nathan is able to come to a different conclusion. If everyone believed that way, then why have prisons? They might as well forget trying to rehabilitate law breakers if there is no forgiveness nor redemption and simply kill them all.
