N2D, I'm so glad you chose to see her again, and I hope that you get the chance to go again. You and I are in similar situations , fortunately for me, I've parked our RV very near Mom's house, I see her every day, my 2 sisters and I share time with her, taking turns, with help from our own grown children and their spouses, we have lots support. It's the hardest thing seeing your Mom fade away. My mom has liver cancer, and it could be anytime, she's not improving for sure, we're watching her deterioriate daily, but she is well pleased and comfortable, and tells us often how blessed she is to have 'three wondeful daughters , and how proud of us she is , that is SO healing to our hearts...We take gentle care of her, and have very close intimate moments during our visits, where we can say what we need to say, or laugh, cry, or just hold each other and give comfort, I thank God that I have this opportunity to be here for her. I pray yours, and my mom, go painlessly and peacefully in to the Loving, Caring arms of our Lord when their time comes...
